R.I.P. MARAUPLOADS[]
MaraUploads was the original way for players to upload images for their profiles, signatures, clubs, MaraSites, etc. Although it was very basic (only giving each player 1MB of space), providing that amount to thousands of users was both expensive and a hassle for the staff so they discontinued the service in November 2009:
RIP Marauploads - The FREE Marapets Image Uploads Service has been discontinued. Marapets simply outgrew the service, it became too expensive and unsustainable for us to provide a reliable and free image upload service to the number of players we have. We will be making changes to the site soon, allowing you to use images from other sites. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused, but it will give us more revenue and time to spend elsewhere on the site!
Fast forward 10 1/2 years later, and the feature was re-released as Mara.Pics!
We believe once again that MaraPets players needed a quick and easy service to upload their images for FREE.
R.I.P. PROMOTE MARAPETS[]
Promote Marapets was described as a quick and easy way of getting prizes and helping Marapets at the same time. Unlike the regular Referral System, players were not rewarded per new member, but for every different sites that the player placed Marapets' code on.
On 20th August 2012, Promote Marapets was removed, with its prizes being made available elsewhere on the site.

R.I.P. SECRET BLOGS[]
Secret Blogs were a feature used to decorate user shops. Unlike Hidden Avatars (and its replacement Experiences feature), Secret Blogs were difficult to draw and unpopular.
As of 1st June 2014, the player's doll will now show up as the shopkeeper of their user shop/gallery, along with their selected experience.
Lost Soul Description: Decorate your shop with these secret blogs. All blogs must be found in the following order. Secret blogs can only be found if you have found all previous secret blogs.

The Barber was a hairstylist for male dolls. Ever since the Upstairs of Baspinar's Castle was removed on 19th August 2014, the Barber and Salon were merged and moved to Lowlyhood.

R.I.P. Google Wallet on Marapets[]
To prepare for Google Wallet's closing on 1st March 2016, MaraPets removed the payment option with it on 9th January 2015, and have since switched back to PayPal.
Along with this sad news, the following changes were made:
- Payments are now processed instantly for all players.
- PayPal will charge users in their local currency so they will know how much they are paying.
- All payments will now show as "PAYPAL ACCOUNT UPGRADES" or "PAYPAL AU CREDIT" on the user's bank statement. They will not mention Marapets at all.
- The user can pay by credit/debit card as a guest.
- The user can buy AU Credits with a pre-paid card from many local supermarkets.
- The user will receive 10% extra FREE credit with PayPal, just like Google Wallet!
R.I.P. MEMORY UPGRADE[]
Memory Upgrade was a feature in Ziranek that was made to keep memory for the MaraUploads feature. It was removed 10th October 2016, seven years after MaraUploads was terminated. It had only remained on the site for so long due to it being required for Ziranek Goals, but its level has since been changed to "Restock any Video Game from the Video Games Shop". On 23rd August 2017, about a year after its removal, Memory Upgrade was revamped into the Memory Shop, which sells items in exchange for Memory Points, which are earned each time the user deletes an item.
Lost Soul Description: Whenever a player joins, they are given a megabyte of server memory for free. You can memory upgrade buy buying an uploads upgrade for money or from buying more space for MP below. Cheap memory is available at MaraUploads. Memory is priced at 25MP per 1KB.
R.I.P. MARAHOMES AND GARDENS[]

Marahomes was a feature that involved users creating their own homes. In them, users would care for their pets and minipets, by feeding them at kitchens, relieving them at bathrooms, and sending them to rest at bedrooms.
In April 2017, it was announced that Marahomes would be going away due to feeling unnecessary (especially after being removed from the top bar), and that Gardens would be relaunched into the Gardening feature in Gigantic Paradise. All items used to decorated the user's Marahome(s) (in addition to any planted seeds) were returned to their Inventory, any avatars or goal levels related to Marahomes were changed, the Appliances*, Flooring**, Furniture*, Paint Cans***, and Wallpaper** Shops were removed, the Resort (the feature itself being an alternative to caring for minipets at home) was changed to be an alternative to the Ferris Wheel, and any MP used to make any Marahomes were also refunded.
*29th September/28th October 2020: Several of these items have now changed into these new pet Figurines, Action Figures, and Jigsaw Puzzles.
**All flooring and wallpaper items have been turned into cheese for the new Cheese Shop.
***The Paint Cans Shop was turned into a new Fake Costumes Shop, which sells items that grant pets with a transformation corresponding with the Fake Costume's colour.
Lost Soul Description: Virtual Pets live in homes. As you need to take care of virtual pets, you must have at least one home at all times to put your virtual pet to sleep in. However, you can have a maximum of 6 houses in total. There are different types of houses to choose from, each a different price, size and take a different amount of time to be completed.

The Fashion Show Medal
The Fashion Show was a contest in Lowlyhood that was inspired by tishalook's Marapets Clothing Design Contest on the Graphics Forum.
The first Fashion Show was held in April 2014, and last one was held in October 2017. Winners were awarded an avatar, and each of their designs remained in the Vending Machine as prizes. Additionally, the main, landing art for the Fashion Show was reused for Miss Marada.
Lost Soul Description: Welcome to the Lowlyhood Fashion Show - where players come to show off their latest fashion designs. Do you have an idea for new clothing here on Marapets? Enter and make your ideas a reality! To enter, draw your idea onto our character base - click for the Doll Base. You can design any kind of clothing, costume, and/or wig and submit as many entries as you like - this feature is permanent! Send your entries to marafashionshow@gmail.com. Remember to include your username! Winners will be announced in the news, will win 100,000MP, a profile Medal, the items they designed, and will be permanently listed in the Fashion Show gallery below. IMPORTANT RULES - All entries must be in.JPG, PNG or.GIF format. Entries in other formats will not be accepted. If you cannot draw them on a computer, you can print out the bases, hand draw your designs and scan them in or take a photo. We're looking at design ideas and details, not artistic talent. Prior to the Notification system's release on 28th April 2019, there was a Countdown feature that let players know how long they would have to wait to use a certain game or feature again.
Lost Soul Description: This giant digital countdown clock in Ziranek is a very useful clock for all Maradans. It has a countdown of all of the major places in Marada, with a counter telling you how long you need to wait before you can use it again!
R.I.P CELEBRITY WALK OF FAME AND DOLL MAKER[]
The Lowlyhood Walk of Fame was where Marada paid tribute to real-life celebrities, being a replacement of the original Dress Up Game.

We have just released the first Dress Up Game on the site. When we released the virtual world of Lowlyhood, we mentioned that it will be filled with celebrities and fashion. We will soon releasing a Walk of Fame on the Lowlyhood map where we add celebrities to the world of Marada. Each celebrity we add will be a Doll Maker, where you can dress up one of the dress up character dolls on the site to look like that celebrity. We have just added Zac Efron doll to the dress up games page. It has hair styles, clothes and shoes for male characters on the site which we have arranged for you to dress up one of our dolls to look like Zac Efron. All of these shoes, clothes and hair styles are also available on the site for your male character, so if you like the items you put on Zac, you can get them on the site for your character too! More of these dress up games will be added in the future for different celebrities.
Since the Doll Maker was replaced with the Change Gender feature with Flash becoming obsolete some years later, it only made sense for the Marapets team to turn the Walk of Fame into a giveaway feature in 2019, much like the Wishing Well at Neopets, but with a twist: any MP donated goes into the prize pot. That way, every player's a winner!

Ever since Mara began rewarding all players for daily benefits in 10th August 2019, the Restricted Chat has since changed from how long each user has played Marapets to how high their Progress Goals level is (specifically 25+).

Old Monthly Checklist[]
Previously, the Monthly Checklist had a setlist of goals for players to complete in order to enter the competition for £150 AU Credits. While the main prize has not changed, they also had the chance to randomly win a Capsule Machine Token upon submitting their entries. As of 5th March 2020, they can randomly win one with a Silver or Gold Shield.
The requirements now change each month and some are chosen at random, so each player has a slightly different list to complete. Several prizes are reserved for those who have completed more levels of the Progress Goals.

R.I.P. MaraSites[]
On 15th May 2020, MaraSites, being one of the oldest features on the site, was relaunched as Mara.Pages, allowing Level 18+ players to create their own website for free.
With this release, several updates to this feature have been made:
- All Mara.Pages have shorter links using the user's username(s) such as: https://mara.page/Ian.
- Mara.Pages can now be created without having to know HTML.
Lost Soul Description: Every verified user over 13 has their own Marasite. It is our completely free way of us hosting your website. You start with the home page and the choice to create extra pages. You can get more space from Account Upgrades if you need it too! Only text and HTML will work - PHP is blocked. Content must be appropriate for all ages. Marasites cannot have political, religious, or sexual content. They cannot feature gaming sites similar to Marapets.
IMPORTANT - any member found to have paid advertisements on their Marasite will be frozen immediately. You can not code your layout to cover the advertisements on the page. The site is only free because of the adverts, so hiding them will have your account frozen.
R.I.P. Pet Auctions[]
Pet Auctions were a section of the main Auction House that allowed users to auction off their pets. The feature was first released in 2012 as a trial to see if allowing pets to be sold would work. After a week, Limited Edition and Restricted Pets were no longer being auctioned due to poor results.
Sadly, yet unsurprisingly, Pet Auctions was never popular, so it was finally removed on 28th October 2020. A large percentage of those who used it did it to profit off of pet names.
