Cartoon pets appear monochromatic with classic notched eyes, white gloves, (in 2014 toon pets) bowties, simplified/stylized features, and rubberhose-like limbs (especially the arms/hind limbs in certain pets). Additionally, toons that appear cheerful can be shown with musical notes above their heads, but other toons may carry a set disposition and wield toon-friendly weapons.

The Cartoon Costume mostly draws influence from rubber hose animation and golden age theatrical cartoons, the former of which being revived by the likes of Bendy and the Ink Machine, Cuphead (and its TV show), the 2010s Mickey Mouse TV show, and separate characters such as Spinel (Steven Universe: The Movie) or Peacock (Skullgirls).
