Town Hall

The City of Marada Town Hall is a place where users can legally change the name of either their usernames or pets' names with a Certificate.

Case Certificate[]

Changes the case letters of a pet's name (from mypetname to MyPetName for example). (£2 AU)

Gender Certificate[]

Changes the pet's gender to Male, Female, or Other. (£2 AU)

Height Certificate[]

Changes the pet's height. (£2 AU)

Pet Certificate (+ Old Certificates)[]

Changes the pet's name. (£5 AU) It has the same usage as the now-removed Old and New Male/Female Certificates.

Swap Certificate[]

Switches the names between two of a user's pets. (£8 AU)

Weight Certificate[]

Changes the pet's weight. (£2 AU)

Username Certificate[]

Allows the user to add different, unlimited usernames to their account. (£10 AU) The user can then switch between their usernames for free every hour, but all their older usernames will still work at the login page. They will also get the option to show their original username, all their usernames, or keep them all private.

Name Purges[]

A purge is a mass removal of inactive accounts to free up usernames and pet names for other users. Over the past two decades of Marapets, over 8 million pets and 6 million accounts have been created, and obviously many of these are dead, so these purges will move (not delete) accounts that have not played Marapets in the past 8 years. Copies of their names will be kept in case they ever return, but they will have to change their usernames or pet names if they choose to do so.

Over the next few days of a purge, new usernames and pet names will slowly become available at a rate of about 500 an hour. If the Town Hall receptionist says that a name is available, but the user does not trust it, they can press the button to double check. The cache will be updated once the purge is complete.

1st March 2014: The Town Hall that Zetzilla (who is currently 44% defeated) destroyed has now been rebuilt.
24th September 2014: After 10 years, it's finally happened! The Username Certificate has been released.
- 11th October 2014: Every time that you use a 'Username Certificate', you will now own your new and current username forever. If you haven't already noticed, we have made over 500,000 Usernames available by removing some really old, dead accounts.
14th February 2017: If there is a pet name you want, you can send a Support Ticket to us. You must have a Pet Certificate in your Inventory, tell us the pet you want to rename, and the pet name you would like. We will do everything we can to see if this pet name is available. If not, we will let you know and you can try another name. If you have several names you would be happy with, please let us know in order of preference.
We released this in trial earlier this week on the forums and the demand was overwhelming. Our goal here is to help as many of our players as possible find the 'dream name' for their pet. Instead we received multiple lists from certain players who wanted to get in there quick for a list of names, only to resell, trade or hoard these names for later. While this is not against the rules, this is not the reason we are spending our time investigating if we can change names for you. Due to this current high demand, we can only provide this service one pet each month per player. We hope to very soon decrease this limit to two weeks; until then, please understand why there is a limit. We want to HELP as many players as possible and not to "sell" as many certificates as we can.
14th March 2017: The Town Hall now allows usernames AND pet names that are only 2 characters long. We are also only processing Pet Rename tickets for players who have not received one yet.
7th April 2017: If you have many different usernames and have completed the Unnecessary Perfection Instructions, you can now change their order at the Town Hall.
30th October 2017: Today we have started a MASSIVE removal of inactive accounts to free up millions of usernames and pet names!
- 2nd November 2017: The Name Purge has finished. In total, 3,363,940 usernames and 4,299,037 pet names were removed and are now freely available to be created or changed at the Town Hall. To stop new players from joining, creating lots of good pet names, and then leaving, they can now create only one pet every 24 hours.
23rd February 2021: The Pet Certificate is back at the Account Upgrades Shop. Renaming pets via Support Ticket is no longer accepted. The Town Hall will be upgraded later in the year with new features for those who want more complicated changes, including cheaper certificates to switch names between pets you own and switching between upper and lower cases.
3rd March 2021: There are now five new Certificates that you can use here: Case, Height, Gender, Swap, and Weight.
